Summer is around the corner and you know what that means?! Time to bust out the itty-bitty tank tops, ultra short mini skirts and cleavage baring mini dresses, right? WRONG! Maybe I’m just a prude (haha, not really) but why do people continually think that’s the case season after season? I for one look better with more clothes on, and that could just be because I have fabulous clothes…but I digress. Seriously just because the temperature is rising outside doesn’t mean you have to step out of the house dressed like your shift just ended at The Hustler Club.
One of my favorite style icons, Sarah Jessica Parker graces the cover of Vogue this month and one of my favorite quotes from her article talks about the costumes of the girls from SATC 2. When talking about Pat Field, “She wanted all the characters to be interesting, sexy, all the stories that Pat likes to tell with clothing…” “…You have to look at clothing and women and women’s bodies completely differently. And you start to see how you can still see so much with someone covered. And how exciting that is and how beautiful it is and how draping can be incredibly sexy…” Hello?! I think if Miss Carrie Bradshaw herself says something like that we should treat it as law.
I personally think that with the right elements, clothes have the ability to make anyone feel incredibly sexy. Less isn’t always more and I for one like to leave a little to the imagination. And to me, nothing embodies those qualities more this season that Eva Khurshid’s Zoe Pant. Even before I started writing this blog, the minute I saw these pants I was obsessed. The color is amazingly rich and the fabric is ultra luxe. And the cut is universally flattering. If you don’t own this already, what are you waiting for?
We’re still in a recession people and our hard earned dollars need to stretch far. The Zoe is one of the most versatile pieces that a woman can own. Whether you pair it with flats for an early morning coffee run or with a caftan and heels dining with a Sheik in Abu Dhabi, you’ll find these fit the bill. Clothes are an investment, and with the myriad of looks you can create with these pants, you’ll get your investment back ten-fold.
Because I’m such a sweetheart, I’m bestowing my style advice to you. Below are two completely different looks created around the Zoe Pant. By incorporating pretty prints, beautiful cuts, and attention grabbing pieces from your wardrobe you’ll definitely stand out this summer. And for all the right reasons.
DAYTIME: I love the idea of playing with different proportions. If I wear a skinny pant, I would never pair it with a tight fitting top and vice versa. The Zoe Pant fits close to the body so pair it with a loose fitting top in a boxy shape. Because the color of the pants are so vivid, keep everything else neutral but with little pops of color. A flash of red here, a bit of turquoise there. A great structured handbag and a stack of bracelets complete the look.
EVENING: While during the day you kept everything simple and neutral to let the pants speak for themselves, at night- Go Big or Go Home. Middle Eastern influence was all over the runway this season. Take a tip from Maharani’s of old and go crazy with color. A beaded caftan in a deep jewel tone complement the bright blue color of the pants perfectly. Keep jewel tones in mind for evening and pair it with coral chandelier earrings and cuffs adorned with gold, turquoise and purple. Add a brightly colored clutch and metallic heels and you too will be the belle of the ball!
EK Style: All the Raj!
